I made this photograph in the course of A year in Torridon, a photographic project I undertook from mid-2022 to mid-2023. I had seen the potential for an image at this location in summer but knew I had to wait until the golden colours of autumn arrived to record the scene at its best. The centrally-placed birch vies with the summits of Beinn Eighe to be the main subject, the latter flattered by a brief burst of soft sunlight illuminating its white quarzite cap.
