The island of Værøya (or Vaeroy) lies to the west of the main Lofoten archipelago, in arctic Norway, accessible only by ship. I visited in late winter, making a number of wet beach landings by Zodiac to explore the shoreline.

In this image, I have sought to capture the stillness and solitude of a magical winter morning, and the raw beauty of the scene in soft, pre-dawn light.
