Lying to the north of the island of Mull, the Ardnamurchan peninsula is the most westerly part of mainland Britain, with Loch Sunart dividing the land to the south of the peninsula.
I made this image at Glenborrodale on an unseasonally fine evening in March, with conditions that show the view of the islands of Loch Sunart and beyond at its very best. I used a long exposure technique to create greater separation of land and water, and to emphasise the serenity of the moment. For me, this is a scene that demands a panoramic format and to be printed at scale, to maximise one’s immersion in the location and the sense of ‘being there’.
